Title: Fighting the spam
Post by: rejetto on March 06, 2006, 11:31:16 AM
i'm sick of all this spam.
today i noticed hundreds fake accounts (no posts) staying there just for linking advertised websites.
i just deleted ~250 accounts and installed some feature to limit all this mess.
now the registration check is very hard to read also for a human...just try several times until you guess it.

Ciao Rejetto, there is a super spamkiller i am using since many years: SPAMIHILATOR http://www.spamihilator.com/index.php?lang=en (german version: www.spamihilator.com). Don't take too much plugins there, ifnot all will be "spam" :) I use the plugin pop3notifier_0_2_0.exe, it's well working - and enough.
By mistake i went by www.spamihilator.de today and following "Weitere Links"(Further links)-Spamfilter i saw a listing of other anti-spam-programs here (http://sedoparking.com/parking.php4?domain=spamihilator.de&s=506c3a489ed23399c7b8&tb=&task=search&language=d&registrar=&keyword=Spamfilter&tracked=&partnerid=&language=d) .

phpbb CAPTCHA has already been defeated by spammers, in facts people say this mod is not effective.
using the new CAPTCHA i installed for account registration would be too annoying to users.

this is about registrations, all the spam you saw last week was generated by guests.

thank you anyway for your effort.
