It did not work when mapping a drive for a different pc [the third] nor the nas.

I think that may be where the issue lies.
The NAS is seen as a separate PC.
I tried to map a drive of a third pc and it also did the same thing.

Might it be with the delay that the mapped drive has to read from the other device and HFS times out?

Is 2510p located on a different pc?
The NAS drive has its own mac address and own ip address.

The HFS server is running on a dedicated PC @ address 192.168.0.7.
The NAS is running @ address 192.168.0.8
I can MAP the drive to any letter I wish or access it via a web browser by 1p or name [NasDrive1]
Also if it is not mapped it is accessible through the network segment of the file explorer as they are both in the same work group.

HFS ~ HTTP File Server / Re: Help with multiple instances of HFS please.

What I am concerned about is if I give IP# 123.123.com to one person and 124.123.com to another when they initiate a download the download dialog box they see on thier pc will show "Downloading from 1123.com" for both people. I would need either each person to see thier own ip [123 / 124] or just as good nothing at all!

HFS ~ HTTP File Server / Issues adding files / folders
« on: August 23, 2008, 12:55:26 AM »
I am using a network attached storage drive.
When i browse to it to add files from within HFS i can do so ok.
But if i try to add a real folder or a virtual folder from the NAS it will not even see the directory structure.
It sees the NAS drive but it does not expand to any folders!

Can you help?

Yes you are right. but then I can not copy an paste urls from within HFS without re-writing them.
Furthermore if when you initiate the download the download dialog will show whatever  address or DNS  HFS is set to. I nees them to be different!.

I am using HFS to supply files both for my business and personal usage.
As I am on cable the IP # changes frequently, so i am using a DNS name.
Right now I have to main folders in the share tree - say B {business} and P {personal}.
Through the use of pw I can insure that friends cants access the co data.

But I need to supply everyone wit the same DNS name.
I would prefer to have TWO DNS Names, one for the company and one for me.
So in order to do that i assume I will need to run two copies of HFS each pointing to its own DNS. Only I can not get it to work.

I Created two folders on my secondary drive, one for each instance and assigned each a different DNS but whenever they shutdown and power back up they both default back to the IP address.

Any ideas on how to do this?

HFS ~ HTTP File Server / HFS and Vista and FireDaemon!
« on: August 06, 2008, 08:06:11 PM »
I just upgraded to Vista Ultimate.

HFS works fine if started manually.

But I like to use FireDaemon Pro to run it as a service.

I like that because if HFS hangs, or if it is closed by accident  FD will restart it.

But now when I run in through FD in Vista It shows as running in FD an also in the services box but the TRAY ICON is not available. I have no way to OPEN the program. So any time i need to make an addition or deletion I need to close the FD service, open HFS manually, then exit it, restart FD to make it available.

Can anyone help me figure this out?

thanks in advance.

That makes sense.

Would the runas/ part of the HFS command lie or the firedaemon command line?

This computer has only one account on it, administrator.
But just in case, can you be more specific on how to :
"modify the "add to hfs" in the registry to use the "runas" command.
command line: runas /?"

Tks

HFS ~ HTTP File Server / Rejetto, Please help.
« on: July 30, 2008, 01:22:07 PM »
I have already started a topic on this issue a long time ago.
I have tried many things but can not get it to work.
If you can help me figure this out it would be great.

I have HFS installed to the "H\" drive.
All functions work correctly except the "Add To HFS" option in the shell menu.
This is due to a program called "FireDaemoPro" wich I use to run HFS as a service.
If I start HFS manual the add to HFS works fine, if i use FD it does not.
When i choose that option I receive a "Monolib error: access is denied".

I have included a picture of FD's set up screen.

And here is a link to the original post if you care to review it: http://www.rejetto.com/forum/index.php?topic=5701.msg1034153#msg1034153

It would be awesome if you could solve this for me!

Thanks for the program and all your time to produce it!,

HFS ~ HTTP File Server / Upload rights
« on: April 07, 2008, 01:03:13 PM »
I have several upload directories that are in use. I have it set to incremental uploads so files are not accidentally over written.  But there are times when it would be beneficial to do so .

Is there someway that i can set up a upload directory to overwrite while having the othe stay on incremental?

If not is there some way I can give specific users the ability to delete files in that upload directory prior to uploading without giving them access to HFS directly?  that is to say from the upload screen?
