HFS ~ HTTP File Server / equipment support
« on: March 02, 2016, 11:08:52 PM »
I know that this is not the right format for this question but i am hoping that other readers will help me anyway.

I have been using HFS for a long time and have become quite dependent on it. I have been using it to create a kinda cloud of my software for myself. But to do that I have to leave a spare pc turned on for it to always be accessible. My PC just dies and before I purchase a new one I would like to consider an NAS. I have found NAS's that have file share capabilities but none as good as HFS.

Does anyone know of an NAS that can run HFS on it?
What NAS's can you suggest?

Thanks for helping.

HFS ~ HTTP File Server / Upload performance
« on: September 27, 2013, 01:02:14 PM »
I had the newest stable release and I am having issues with Upload speeds.
I am connected to a cable modem via a gigabyte network and card.
Speed test shows me a throughput of 51.15 Mbps down and  17.78 Mbps up.
Yet I am only getting 75-125 KB's of upload thru HFS.

I have no limits imposed in HFS.

Why can I not upload faster?

router & port problems / Advanced connectivity issue - Please help
« on: April 05, 2013, 02:00:14 PM »
HFS was installed and running fine. Service was Comcast cable.
I just added telephone serve with Comcast and the upgraded the mode.
This new modem is cable, phone & router.

To simplify installation I set the new modem/router to dhcp and assigned my old router
a static ip address to it. I then DMZ's the Comcast router to that IP#.

The network works fine, all my old rules and port assignments are ok.
I can VNC into any pc from the WAN just as I did before.

BUT HFS will not work!
Whenever I run the self test all i get is "Self test is not available at he moment".

Ant Idea why?

HFS ~ HTTP File Server / Port Forward Issue
« on: September 06, 2012, 01:04:53 PM »
I have been a long time user of HFS. Thanks for it.

I have a need to use it at my place of work. But the issue is that the IT dept has LOST the PW to the Cisco router and as such is unable to forward or open a port to the pc that I want to host HFS.

I was wondering if anyone here has had a similar limitation and how they overcame it.

HFS ~ HTTP File Server / Port Assignment
« on: August 24, 2011, 03:53:49 PM »
This request is likely not possible, but if it were!

Can HFS access ports via UDP so as to not need to assign an IP to the host pc
like Teamviewer or other programs do?

I would very much like to use this here at work but the prior IT guru lost the PW to our cisco router so there is NO way to be able to access it and assign - direct traffic. Tried to get the OK to buy a new one but they just do not understand the need.

HFS ~ HTTP File Server / Setup Issue
« on: March 28, 2011, 04:37:58 PM »
I am not sure when this happened but over one of the last series of updates I am no longer able to save my Chosen IP Address.

I have a DNS service, it is enabled, and configured in HFS.
But every time I open HFS I need to change the default ip address from 192.168.1
.xxx to the DNS.

How can i save it as default?

HFS ~ HTTP File Server / Upload compatibility
« on: November 14, 2008, 05:24:02 AM »
I plan to use a PC at the office to create incremental backups of the 3 Pc's pc's at work.
Genie Backup Pro 8 will do this. Then use the PC to create and OFF SITE incremental backup at home. Genie Backup Pro 8 can do this to, it can back up to FTP.

I was wondering if this would be compatible with HFS.
That is to say can connect to hfs thru the FTP settings in the backup program.

If not can someone suggest a good way to do this?
I am not familiar with FTP.
Is there another easy way to get my home PC to accept the ftp?

HFS ~ HTTP File Server / HFS and Western Digital My book world Edition
« on: October 28, 2008, 12:22:35 AM »
Has anyone tried to "HACK" the Western Digital My book world Edition so as to be able to run HFS from it directly?

It would be AWESOME to be able to have HFS up n running on my NAS without my PC!
