A small bug (in rc2):
Press F5 to refresh the view in the browser - and you'll see the DL count & hits count in the tray icon (& tool tip) increasing with # of files ? folders ? links ?

Edit (23-Dec)
A big bug :
a few popups "out of system resources" after about 15 min.,  with only a few F5 and most of the time - Idle. (Win 98).

After that - a blue screan!!! and thats it - only hard reset helped!  :(

azz :(

test rc3 please
same URL

what's new
+ LOGIN button (browsing)
+ support for external links in the VFS: File Menu -> "New link"
+ customizable 401 and 403 HTTP error pages
+ customizable realm
+ Users -> User properties: browse protected resources by user
+ File Menu -> Icon
+ complete downloads counting
+ Time left
+ Menu -> Other options -> "Use comment as realm"
* Connections box: merge of "IP" and "User" fields
* Connections box: "Agent" and "Start time" displayed in tip
* folders known before as "autoupdated folders" are now "real folders", others (yellow) are "virtual folders"
- problems sending HTTP error pages
- VFS: minor redrawing problem
- "Hide tree" was not propagating to autoupdated folders
- hits were not displayed (in tips) for folders
- comment was not displayed (in tips) for links

So, what WAS actually modified/fixed  ?

Edit (21:30) :

@ rejetto -
Purple colored folder icons in rc3 ?????????????? is this a special version for Christmas ? What happened to the yellow ones?  :D

I mean in the HFS SW/tree , not the client.

edit :(22:00)
few things:
- log side is being refreshed very havily - loading the HFS (actually - it should not refresh at all - since it is printing out-of view (BTW - I would do it in reverse order - last at the top)
- The file view - in the client is all massed up! subfolders are being duplicated twice ,  files are being "duplicated " to folders above them etc.

May be - wait after the holidays, rest a bit, and test is some more  ... :?

Edit PS (23:00):
After about 40 min - still "out of system resources" popup dialog is showing up  :(

despite the amount of wine of last days, i'm not entirely drunk
someone said that actually it works well only on winxp
this complicates things a lot for me, since i use winxp
i may need to restart 1.6 from 1.5 sources, readding things piece by piece until we found what's the problem

Look at these two screen shots, from both 1.6rc3 & rc1 . It might help.

 :?

Edit (1) :
I also get "list index out of bound" when downloading.  But as I remember this used to be also in previous versions.

I'll also try reproduce the "out of resources " and let you know. I have a hunch this has to do with running Kazaa 2.6 at the same time .

Edit (2): (Win98)
I checked with "taskinfo" and noticed that evrey time you do something in IE client (like F5) "the free GDI resources" - drops ,  and eventually reachs a near-zero value and freeze the system.  When you use Kazaa - it simply starts at a lower value and get to zero faster...  My guess is - it has to do with the log or the icons.
Win 98 is known for it's lousy mem management... so maybe you are not freeing somthing...

In the Set User/Pass you should make a reset button to it or something to remove the password already set

well, the leak has been introduced with the new GIF library.
it was not made by me, so it is not trivial to fix.
anyhow, i introduced a cache system that reducing the leak may actually remove the problem.
i just uploaded rc4, please give it a test.

i was not able to understand anything about those purple icons. i just get yellow ones. let me know if this problem persists.

...the last releases are not exactly rc, i was wrong at first labeling, and the error propagated through.
we should be now near the stable version.

rc4:
At first glance - the leak problem looks much better (= not effecting the resources).

About the purple - it is just ODD, not very important (it was not in your first 1.6 release...)

But - the screenshots were to show two more problems, so look closer:
1. The file/links structure is NOT correct in some cases - look under "protected" sub-folder and see the difference : two other "files"  are shown, and are realy from the sub-folder below it ("faq.html" & index.html")
2. one other strange (but funny...) thing - in the "rc0" & rc4 look at the icon of the link of "hfs.exe"! somehow - you (?) "managed" to show the zip type file-icon for it ...  ;) ...

1. are you sure you did not create real (autoupdated) folders? warning: adding a folder the question has changed, and the yes/no answer is swapped. Old .VFS files may be incompatible, thus if you have a problem, try recreating your VFS before.

2. i was not able to reproduce. are you sure you did not set a customized icon for it? try clicking on default icon and see if it changes.

in the while i fixed (to be released) this bug
- problems with files with corrupted timestamp

2. - yes, it was my mistake. The icon was customized...  :#)

1. - The first folder I have - IS a real forder. how do I check if a folder is autoupdated ? can this "confuse" HFS ?

It IS an older VFS. I was not aware that it may be incompatible. may be I'll try later  to rebuild it...
