First make sure you are in expert mode.
Click on Menu -> Other options and then click on Users....
Then you can see all the users and the passwords you created.

You can see the user names in user accounts BUT you can't see the passwords.  They are hidden and show up as *****.

Rejetto, I think you should give the administrator the option to view the hidden paswwords on their server if they want.  This was something I was going to ask you about before but forgot.

Awating your reply rejetto.  Thanks.

most software doesn't let you see passwords.
there is an easy reason for this: you can't read passwords in few seconds.
using password revealer softwares it takes longer, so if your computer is for short time used by someone else, no password will be read.

rejetto,

I see your point and I agree.

However, I'm talking about HFS here.  Our users don't have to first register with a name and password to gain access.  HFS doesn't have the power to register new users.  We set them up manually then tell them what name/password to use so they can access the server.

We, the administrators, create our own user accounts that include the name and passwords we give them so they can access the server.

I have a number of users that I have set up and I don't give them each the same password.  It would be nice if we could see the password that we give them in user accounts only in case we ever need that information.  I'm just talking about the user account screen.  The password should remain hidden in the login screen.

Hi!

Maybe an admin pass to lock some options in HFS?

i got your point mike
the fact is HFS is constantly going where i didn't think to  8O
i never thought someone would have created many accounts  :#)

anyway, next beta will behave this way: when you click on the password field, text will be clear. instead, when it is not focused, it is masked.
but if the field is empty, it will stay masked also when you click on it, so if you are creating a new password, it will stay hidden.

Thanks rejetto.  I'm not sure I totally understand what you are saying in how it will work.  When the next beta comes out we will figure it out.  :)

Thanks rejetto.  Just tried it out and it works GREAT! :)

Would it not have been easier to copy the folder containing the hfs.exe , the hfs.config file, and the hfs file system file  (which contains your users and passwords) over to a thumb drive or writable CD?  Done this before myself, and it works.  you just have to restructure the file sysem in most cases.  But the users/passwords are intact.  Don't make anything harder than it has be.
