aside the lack of time, i've been stopped by the fact that the tool i use to build HFS (delphi 2006) has no unicode support.
there's no newer free version at the moment.
such big companies should provide free licenses restricted to developing free open source software.

another option, porting to Delphi.NET and using VCL.NET instead. cuz Delphi .net supports unicode, the support for it is part of .NET itself. ;D
