this is bandwidth limited, it will handle as much as your resources

computer network / processor / ram etc.. can handle,

no one has posted nor knows the maximum limit as it has never been recorded...
At least not to my knowledge of being on this forum...

in regards to the weird poll question:
how many users allowed to access the shared file over the network

The answer is Operating System specific:

*there are other setting registry/GPO that can change this....

windows 7 can only handle 20 concurrent connection at one time:

windows server (2003/2008 r2) servers if i recall correctly can handle 50

linux/unix don't remember... been a long time sice those books form school :) :P

mind that the limit of the windows' shared folders has nothing to do with hfs.

All the limits of HFS that are not of the machine, are listed (enabled and disabled) in the Menu > Limits
if one option is not enabled then you should not expect it to be affecting in any way.

The only limit that's enabled by default is the "prevent leeching".
If your users are all from the same IP address (because their connection comes from the same NATed LAN), then it will affect them. If it's a problem for you, you can just disable it.
