HFS ~ HTTP File Server / Re: archivable permission based on user
« on: July 24, 2007, 09:46:06 AM »
There should not be any difference in bandwidth usage between single and archive downloads...just the duration of the download. I don't see much point to make this archiving more complicated than it already is ...since the same effect can be achieved using programs like downthemall (ff extension) which can download all the files at once. Actually dta does it in more cruel way since it uses multiple connections, downloading folder.tar normally is lighter for the server.

There should only be options to restrict download and upload rights like there is now. If we're going to limit the rights to download archive, what's next...option to restrict downloading of files over 1Gb or limits by filetype?

So I'm against this option.

HFS ~ HTTP File Server / About "Don't consider as a download"...
« on: July 23, 2007, 06:08:18 PM »
I have a small issue with this "Don't consider as a download" feature.

I generated a thumbnail.html page into my images folder (with XnView). Every time this thumbnail page is loaded, the small thumbnail images are loaded from a hidden "thumbs" folder inside the images folder. I've also set t_*.jpg (the filenames of the thumbnails in thumbs folder) as "Don't consider as download" for that folder so that my taskbar and the folder hits would not get flooded with the downloads of the small thumbnail images.

This works OK with the taskbar icons, they do not appear, but the images folder still gets 465 hits each time that page is loaded. This looks very stupid on my root folder where other folders have like 45, 21 or 33 hits but the images have 2983... :( This pretty much ruins the informational value of the whole Hits-field.

I can see from the description of this function that it is meant to work only with total hits, not with folder hits, right? But I think it should really do what its title says, not consider anything matching the mask as a download. Then those matching downloads would not be added to the Hits of that folder. I'd even like them not be listed in the log too since loading that page floods the log quite badly too..

HTML & templates / Re: welcome screen/search
« on: July 22, 2007, 05:09:24 PM »
Here's a simple (yet slow as hell) way to search whole contents of HFS:

1) Goto root folder of the site
2) Add ~files.lst?recursive at the end of the current address (f.ex. http://192.168.0.1/~files.lst?recursive)
3) Wait quite a long time (if there are many files shared)
4) Click Ctrl+F or F3 or . (opera only) and search!

I cannot reproduce either with totally default HFS. Is that D:\Music perhaps empty? ..that's why it might be hidden.

BTW: This came as total surprise for me that you indeed can put files and folder also inside real folders in VFS :D

I confirm Eagle's report... attached is also a flash video of it (made using Wink)

It's very very hard to make it disappear... even reaching task manager is quite tricky since HFS steals focus with every message.

Bug reports / Re: Upload broken with small files

I've tested with Opera9, FF2 and IE7 so I don't think it's has much to do with the browser...
And only thing these machines have in common it the Finnish language setting really :D

Bug reports / Re: Upload broken with small files
« on: July 17, 2007, 07:24:09 PM »
I wish I could say it's fixed...and I almost did since the first time I tried with 119 it worked! ..BUT any of the tests after that not. No matter if I restart HFS. It's still almost impossible to upload three small files, uploading only two succeeds in about 60% of the cases and one in about 90%.  :-\

But I'm quite happy with the current situation since afterall it's not really HFS bug but something about Windows XP because it works with WINE and not many people (Wasserfloh and me) have reported this...don't let this delay next stable release.

I'll just have to figure out what is the common factor in three of my machines that causes this in them...

HFS ~ HTTP File Server / Re: Bans and Hosts

This would require HFS to be able to resolve IP-adresses...which may not be so simple thing to to. But basically I'm for it.

I dont' know if you are even planning to implement this but here's how I'd like it to work:

EDIT: You might also fix these two double separators:
i have no idea on what to do with it

Well you fixed similar thing in 112, 113 or something...then it was double separator behing the "Port" text, remember? This time those two double separators are in template editor.. "Word-wrap" and "Find"

Um... You mean Total In & Out? Clicking Clear and reset totals or Reset totals does not reset them. A bug?

Menu > Virtual File System > Reset totals
and Log > Clear and reset totals

What does this reset totals actually do... Clicking it does not seem to change anything on my HFS nor can I find anything about it from this forum or the wiki. What the f* is it? :D
