F.A.Q.s / Re: Run HFS as a Windows Service
« on: September 16, 2007, 12:36:00 AM »
my guess is that you must change the administrator account to be in every group(so the group of the hfservice) would be accessible to the administrator too, try to set the admin groups, the same groups of the user that installed/created the service, or try to unistall the service, and install it again as administrator...

HFS ~ HTTP File Server / Re: DivX streaming from HFS
« on: September 16, 2007, 12:31:29 AM »
hello to all friend here...
i was helping some other hfs user(he is not registered at the forum yet), he is canadian, and he saw tcube hfs and its tests with divx, and asked about a way to make the divx web player be used, but instead a fixed movie player at the top of the window(the same with the file list), in a popup window,
so here it is...
let me explain, and some of you may use part of this idea, or it all in your template.....
it is a simple one....

i tested this and it works, but my guess is that this can be much more useful, clean, and easy...

the template is atached to this post

what must be improved

the detection of the movie resolution before open the popup window
the deletion of the cookie, or it expiration time and check routines

HFS ~ HTTP File Server / Re: HFS+Ubuntu7.04+wine=Happy user :-)
« on: August 13, 2007, 01:59:28 PM »
im not a delphi coder, but i guess that there are some issues in porting some app that not use only the vcl from delphi/kylix
so as the hfs does use some other libs that are not linux native, it is more harder to do than we can think....

but the development is opensource, i got the kylix and i canot compile it on linux, but i have not started to debug why this happen yet....

maybe when i got time....

HFS ~ HTTP File Server / Re: just a idea
« on: August 13, 2007, 01:56:06 PM »
ok, now it is official, this idea, is useful, and dangerous:

the hfs must have a upload folder
it is imperative to have a password protection to this upload folder

i guess that this would not be a easy solution to most of people, but until we got some web/remote admin/control of the hfs, this would help or even do part of the job....

hey foggy, now, we can start to post some exemples of good use of it here.

i will post a few here at night, now i am at work....

and im happy that someone like the idea....
bye for now

HFS ~ HTTP File Server / just a idea
« on: August 13, 2007, 06:01:51 AM »
let me try to explain what i thinked some days ago, i was using some card-printer, that has a bug, and from time to time i must execute some commands, but i dont need to bo there, or even logon remotly to make it, i create a batch that is executed from times to time

so i thinked this
hfs has a login system, right?
hfs allow upload for certain folders and for the right users(if configured to do it, of course) right?

so if in my vfs i put a upload folder, password protected
i upload a file with some commands on it like admin-cmd.bat
and at my hfs machine there is a app that is monitoring that particular folder, looking for a particular filename, in a timed check(at every minute, or every second...) defined by me(the user)
and the command file(the batch) is executed, and then after finished the execution, it will be deleted, and the app will keep the monitoring drill, until got another upload to execute again

would that be cool?
imagine
since we can upload templates
and we can upload ini files
we gain some new cool ways to interact with the hfs
imagine i upload a hfs.ini file with some "templatename.tpl" defined on it
i upload the second file the template, with the name as it is inside the hfs.ini
and then i upload a batch to call the ini, with the template info on it, and BUM i changed my template remotly....
got it?
there must be some other cool uses to it, but be aware, that if you use this app to monitore and look for a file called some-stupidname.bat and inside it there is a command to kill your pc, it is your fall
since you can protect the folder, with password
and only you will know the name of the file that the monitor is expecting

well
i will try to improve the app, but now i wanna know, if someone here like the idea, im using it, and i will improove it and his usage....

status = working
todo = many things... any suggestions?

HFS ~ HTTP File Server / Re: HFS Vulnerabilities?
« on: July 23, 2007, 07:19:29 PM »
i dont know if this would help your study, but since you asked for some flaw in ANY server and it fix, well, the VNC from realvnc is a server and a client right? and in the version 4.1.1 there was a huge secure flaw that would let anybody get in withou password, and there is even a tool that seach for vnc server running this version to explore this secure flaw(search in google) and now it is fixed with the version 4.1.2
i hope that it helps in some way

F.A.Q.s / Run HFS as a Windows Service
« on: July 21, 2007, 04:38:01 PM »
Well, after many posts asking the same question... i sense that this topic could be put into a sticky. ;D

??? if you're looking for a way to make your HFS run at startup, but not as it usually does when the user logs in... you want your HFS to run even before you or anybody else logs into the computer, or even after a shutdown/reboot, you are in the right post.....  ;D

If you use the search button of this forum (http://www.rejetto.com/forum/index.php?action=search), you will find at least 3 pages with these words in their posts, here is a current list of threads on this topic:

and these files are mentioned in all of the posts...at least the files i got here... i have attached the sources of this application i made to create and manipulate the windows process that it creates for HFS... I have attached 2 versions of it, one that makes the service, and manipulate it only, and the other which keeps monitoring the service in the system tray of windows, i must explain that these tools are experimental, and all are virus free, they are one of the my very first programing things in C#, and i'm not updating it, as it works fine to me and others..... i have also got the any2service here, but i did not attach it, i can send it to someone that can host it somewhere for me..... the size is

Any2Service.zip - 2.188kb

i guess there is many other ways to do it... but from now on lets use this sticky post to discuss this topic.

HTML & templates / Re: HFS - Template Builder
« on: July 16, 2007, 01:40:19 AM »
when i say detect, i mean, make the software, at the import time, find every section of the imported template, like, detect when the first section begins, and when it end, and detect when the other sections begins and end too, i may be too stupid, but im not getting much lucky with the regular expressions, since the user can put the section in any place of the templates, and now they can create their own section...

i need help, or learn more....
