HFS ~ HTTP File Server / Self test not working
« on: January 10, 2013, 09:25:06 PM »
I hadn't used HFS for a while and now when I do a self test I get an error saying "Sorry, the test is unavailable at the moment." Port is forwarded, including deleting and adding a number of times to make sure. I disabled my firewall but still no joy. I'm at a loss as it generally works with no problems.

Good luck with the apartment hunting Rejetto, I hope it's relatively stress free. I've lived here 35 years, but I still remember the stress of finding a house to buy and move into.

edit: something strange is happening. If I set port to 8000 in HFS then try self test, the port changes to 8080. If I try self test again, the port in HFS changes back to 8000. I set port to 1001 in my router and in HFS, tried self test and the port in HFS changed to 8000.  :o

router & port problems / Can't connect from 2nd computer
« on: October 09, 2012, 03:18:01 PM »
I'm unsure what to search for, and looking through manually is driving me mad. :)

I have two computers on a network that I want to use HFS on. The main one is connected to the router by ethernet, this one is connected by wireless, but this one is unable to use HFS. To be honest, I don't know where to start to get it connected. I need to send files to others, but I don't need to connect to the other computer. I *do* know about port forwarding and HFS works fine on the other computer.

When I send photo's to friends in China, someone in Beijing always downloads the photo first. Usually just the first photo. The photo's are innocent and of no interest to anyone but myself and the person being sent to, but I dislike being spied on. Is there anyway I can stop this happening?

HFS ~ HTTP File Server / HFS finding internal address on start up
« on: July 01, 2012, 11:45:36 AM »
I have "find external address on startup" checked. Restarting once or twice will usually find the external address, and clicking "find external address" always works. I suspect it might be a problem with Outpost firewall as I never had this problem when I used Comodo. Is there anyone else using Outpost with this problem?

It could be that I don't know what I am talking about, but it seems that HFS looks for the external address but the firewall is taking too long to respond, so HFS goes for the internal address. Does this make sense or am I talking through my hat? ;D

HFS 2.3b build 280. Win 7 Pro SP1 x86. Agnitum Outpost firewall.

HFS ~ HTTP File Server / How secure am I?
« on: February 01, 2011, 01:46:56 PM »
I've been using HFS for a number of years simply to send files to friends and relations in Australia. I'm a very basic user and don't use any templates.
Last week a friend was downloading a file when I noticed another IP was connected. I checked the IP and it was from China. What would the person have been able to see or do, if anything? I was using port 80, so would I be better using a more obscure port?

HFS ~ HTTP File Server / NOT saving file system
« on: March 14, 2010, 08:50:16 PM »
Every time I start HFS, there is a list of files that I have previously sent to people. I delete the list, and when closing down, I click NO when asked if I want to save the file system, but when I start HFS next time, all the files are there again. This has been happening for the last 2 or 3 versions. I'm using build 259 - it updated a few minutes ago.

Am I missing a setting somewhere? Or have a I found a bug? Or is it normal behaviour and I just don't know what I am doing?  ;D

Bug reports / HFS 2.3 beta build 256 crashes on exit
« on: February 28, 2010, 11:54:21 AM »
HFS just updated itself and now crashes on exit every time. I get a message from Windows that HFS has stopped working and an error dialogue that says Runtime error 216 at 004046A2.

Using Vista Home Premium x64

Bug reports / 2.3 #243 reset totals doesn't reset
« on: August 22, 2009, 06:19:38 PM »
right click HFS and click clear and reset totals. List is cleared but totals is not reset.

Also, I just tried to send something to someone and twice the download stopped with no error and any indication that there was a download going on disappeared. If I can get them online again, I'll try again and take more note of what happened
