Title: Portforwarding - it doesnt work right now
Post by: Hellfire on November 14, 2007, 12:17:52 PM
Hi folks,

i´ve configured HFS and it would work well. Now it doesnt, my server was offline for some days. I havent made any changes, neither in router nor in HFS. It doesnt even work by pressing "Open in browser" - self test says "check port forwarding", but there are no changins!

I´ve tried:

- DMZ on router
- Windows Firewall disabled

It seems that HFS can´t  send any informations. The user-confirm-message appears, but then the browser stops loading. Any ideas?

Thanks,

when you try to view hfs in the browser is anything written in the log?

and can you access hfs by going to this url http://127.0.0.1:port replace port with the port hfs is running on if it isnt port 80. That is also assuming you are using the computer hfs is running on.

What log do you mean? HFS has logs?  :) Never heard about it.

By using 127.0.0.1 its the same problem - it loads right to the user-confirm-message and stops then.  :(

the log frame is opposite the virtual file system.

What version/build are you using?

whats the user-confrim-message?

Ah, ok: There´s the message: "requested GET"; nothing more.

User-confirm-message: My term to describe that message which appears on the clientcomputer when trying login with username and password.

My Version is (now) 2.2a.

it sounds as if hfs is working correctly locally because you are prompted for the username/password.

Try using a different port for hfs and forward that to your computer so we can tell if it is your isp blocking the port it runs on.

If you have another computer connected to your router try accessing hfs from that and if it works it is either a isp/forwarding problem.

I´ve tried another port without success. And i´ve got no access from my other computer to hfs - the connection between the two computers works fine.
I´m using port 50012, so its almost impossible that this port is blocked by ISP.  :-\

I already said, it seems that hfs is not able to send any informations.  :(

try this to see if its a hfs configuration problem or your computer config.

menu > other options > tempoarily reset settings
it will reset everything to default settings.

try from the other computer if it works its a problem in your config, if it doesnt it is something on your computer.

select the same option in the menu to restore your settings after the test.

If it worked and was a hfs problem after restoring your settings can you goto

"menu > other options > show customised options" and post the contents.

that option was introduced in successive beta versions.

if you want to know if it's about HFS or not, try running another server (http or ftp), and see if it works.

I have been having the same exact problems that he has been having.  And I have been using this for some time.  No changes to my system.  I run it to share files and suddenly today it has stopped working.

This might sound dumb.. but:

Do you have a dynamic or static network ip? you may have forwarded the ports for ip X, but if the router decided that from this day on you have ip Y, the forwared port does not work.

Simply check this by doing: start -> run -> cmd -> ipconfig.exe. And see if the ip adres (IPv4 if you are in vista) still matches the ip for you once farwarded a port to.
