Hi,

I would like to see the "NEW-Flag" only if there are new files according to the filter-mask of the folder.
Is that possible or would that be a new feature?

Greetings

i don't understand.
if the file is filtered, then no "new" marker should be displayed.
if you can't explain it better, try with a screenshot.

I guess he means the flag on the folder containing the files. If new filtered files are in the folder the New flag shows. If you then check inside you see nothing new as they are filtered out.

I've got a real folder with my MP3s. This real folder has a lot of subfolders. The real folder is marked "flag as new" in the menu. The file-filter is set to *.mp3. Each folder/subfolder contains a descript.ion-file. Periodically I update the descript.ion-files with a batch-file that calls mp3toion from xitsa (http://www.rejetto.com/forum/index.php?topic=4600.0, so they get a new date.
The consequence is, that all folders are marked as "New", even if there is no new MP3-File and only a new descript.ion.

Hi rejetto,

I would like to remind of this topic, because till now I only can solve this problem with a workaround, not really a solution.
Would it be possible to change the behaviour of "flag as new", that the new-flag is only set to directories with non-filtered new files in it?

Another problem I see with flag as new:
I've got a directory structure  with sub-sub-directories.

a
!_aa
     !_aaa

If there is a new file in the folder "aaa", the folder "aaa" is flagged new.
The folder "aa" ist not flagged new, because there is no new file.
So isn't the folder "a".
I think this should be changed, so that all upper folders are flagged as new.

Greetings

it's hard.
if you have a real folder, it could even keep thousands files in tens sub-folders.
when the outer folder is listed, should HFS first dig in all of them to know if any file has changed? it will take even 30 seconds, for one outer folder. unacceptable.
i'm open to suggestions.
