What does temporarily mean?  Reset options for 1 hour, 1 day... what?

It resets for as long as you have it selected. You can turn it off in the same place you find the button to activate it. Also if you close HFS and re-open, your options are restored.

yes. it reverts just by restarting HFS.
but you can do it without restarting, at any time, by clicking once again.

the point of this feature is not lose your settings while you test.
