Title: http screen grabber
Post by: rejetto on May 17, 2002, 04:37:25 PM
www.rejetto.com/hsg/hsg.zip

i'm working on this new project
it is a miniweb server that only serves screenshots (jpg) of the host machine
...a "remote" screenshot
i find it very useful for many purposes
i'm thinking about releasing sources as for hfs

 It would be a nice feature if it would be possible to serve screenshots in different resolutions and/or only parts of your screen or even shots of the active window only as an option for use with low-bandwidth connections or as a kind of focused privateness while running the program. :)

regards

Title: multi-monitor support
Post by: Pete on February 12, 2004, 06:08:54 AM
nice little prog. :)
and great job with HFS! :D

how about multi-monitor support?
so that it'll grab the entire desktop or only a certain monitor number.
or possibly only a specific monitor number?

keep up the good work :D

hi,
I like to have a dynamic signature/avatar using your http screen grabber. So I need a build in resize function to shrink the screenshot/picture.
Is that possible in a upcoming version?

cu,
omnium

PS:the picture in the sig changes 1/min....but you have to reload to see it. Should be automatic with your http screen grabber.
PPS:Why I cant hide my E-Mail address from public? i changed it several times in my profile, but it dont work :-( please do that for me!

i don't think the browser would reload the image if it is included in another webpage (until you reload the page).
test it yourself, and let me know.
i remember having tested it years ago.

your email IS hidden to everyone, but you.
logout and see, the email disappears.

if the browser doesn't comply with the refresh command in the http header (the one used by HFS) there's no other "universal" way with real images, IMO.
i mean, when you put an image in a forum, you can't use javascript to refresh the image.
the best solution i see is using flash, but not all the forums will let you put flash in your signature, so it's not universal (as solution) either.

Use gif format.  You can add frames and save the gif, upload gif while saving frames, etc.
