Title: Problem with HFS started as windows service on windows server 2003
Post by: al_tori on September 30, 2011, 12:02:43 PM
Hi all,

I have a problem with HFS, started as a windows service, on a windows server 2003 operating system.

I have used the software hfs2service and the service was successfully installed and started.

The problem is that when I start the service does not appear the GUI, so I can't change options, add new users or log connections.

If I launch the file hfs.exe, with the service started, appear the error message "Cannot open port. It is already used by hfs.exe".

If I want to change options or add users, I have to stop and remove the service, launch hfs.exe, change the options and than recreate and launch the service

What's the problem ?

Thank you very much for the support.

Alberto

problems is: hfs was not designed to be an always-on server, so the GUI and the core are not separated.
This causes all the problems you have.
Anyway, there's no real need to remove the service, just to stop it.
I know some users created and published on the forum some web panels to manage users, through scripting.
