Hello all, This is my first post.
Ive searched for awhile for a program like HFS. Thanks.
I have Charter Communications 10MB DSL Cable
I tested my server. It works.
I had my friend from all the way across the country(US) test my server by downloading
a file from my server. He has 8MB DSL Cable.
The file was 52MB. His download speed was around 150kbps, sometimes 200kbps.
Now here is the deal.
This is my reason for using HFS.
What I intend to do is....
I create and sell video tutorials on music production. The customer pays me via paypal.
I zip the video tutorial into a .zip file.
I will them email them a download link so they can download their video tutorial from my server.
The video tutorials could end up being 500MB to 700MB in size.
I have currently been selling a tutorial, and after payment,
I upload their .zip file(90MB) to my free "rapidshare" collectors account, and send them the link.
I can see when they have downloaded their file. Then I just delete the link/upload to kill the download link.
But I am limited to 100MB file sizes. I have to upload the files.
90MB takes around 25-30 minutes.
So, I was interested in running my own server.
ENTER HFS!!!!!
OK, SO HERE IS MY QUESTION
I am through Charter Communications.
#1
Is there a bandwidth limit? If there is, can I increase it somehow?
Lets say I sale 2 tutorials a day.
Each customer downloads a 500MB file.
1GB a day.
In 30 days that would be a total download from my server of about 30GB
Now, when new tutorials are put out, I get alot of orders from return customers.
So it alway varies.
#2
Is there a way to increase, somehow, the download speed for my customers?
Like I said, my friend downloaded at around 150kbps
50MB in about 5 minutes or so.
Yes, I know it its dictated also by my customers internet speed.
But like I said above. My friends is pretty fast.
He went to speedtest.net and got a download speed of
5276kb/s at a distance of around 1500 miles.
So Im guessing there may be some limitation set by my ISP?
