RAWR-Designs / Re: RAWR-Template-0.1.2 - Released
« on: August 11, 2009, 02:03:19 PM »
I'm experiencing problems with the https connection, in particular I can't use the RAWR-Player because it seems it cannot download the file.
In the previous version of the template I was able to change some hard-coded "http" in the source code to "https" but with the actual version it seems it's not enough :-[
Could you help finding out where to put the hands to make it work again?

P.S. I never tried coding for HFS, but I suggest you to use some macro (if they exist) to check out if the app is set to https (option "URLS starting with https instead of http" in HFS option menu) and change the code according to this! Hard-coded things are rarely good ;D

[edit]
Gotta correct myself: after some other modifies it seems the player actually downloads the file (goes from 0 to 100%) and the download appears in the HFS log, but the file simply doesn't play! It stays at 0:00!!! The link to the file is the right one for sure: if I right click on the player and ask to copy the direct link, it has https now...

[2nd edit]
It's all right. Strangely my pc was not playing anything! I noticed this opening wmp and playing a song: all muted, timers stopped to 0:00. I rebooted and it's all right, RAWR-Player too.

HFS ~ HTTP File Server / Re: Running HFS as a service in XP
« on: June 11, 2009, 05:48:33 PM »
i remember microsoft gave a 2-programs solution (instsrv+srvany), maybe this "sc" command is replacing just one of them.
Just some days ago I tried this MS solution with no luck.
HFS did run, but it did not "read" the same permissions left there when I opened HFS normally and configured it.
It simply run with the default options, so it ""worked"" with no personalized port, settings, shares, users.
This could be understood letting the service interact with desktop (it's an option in the service properties), to see the hfs application after agreeing to see "a service message" hidden in the background: windows opens an empty environment with HFS only and you can see what happens there.

Well, gotta say I had similar problems with another network service which shares my media for the PS3. It could not read the folders it had to share: it wrote in the logs the folders did not exist. I solved adding a permission in the interested folders' properties for "SYSTEM" to allow this "user" to read the files over there.
I'd guess all the trick would work if you do the same with HFS, its VFS, its settings in the ini file, and all the shares...

Beta / Re: iis compatibility [SOLVED]
« on: June 06, 2009, 04:51:07 PM »
The actual build I'm having is 7201.
Oh, I found it yesterday and I've just updated to 7201.
I didn't have to change anything and whoila, it simply works as it should after the update  ;)  8)
Seems M$ has messed up something in the previous build ::) ;D

Thanks for the suggestion anyway!!

ok, I confess I've just updated Windows 7 again to another new build, but I did this about 10 times from January and this never happened

If you updated the w7-beta from January and now use w7-rc, then this should not be an update. Microchoff recomends a clean install for the rc. If you simply updated, there might be the cause of your problem.
You're right.
To be precise, I always updated and I also did update from 7077 to 7100 (the only build that was "allowed" to be updated to the rc without modifying the iso).
But, after some days, my antivirus (Kaspersky Internet Suite) completely locked the system, I couldn't simply move the mouse nor use the keyboard...so I did the clean install of the rc. And updated it some times with the builds available on the net...that's all...I'll check out what happens with later builds!

I tried going back to 241 but nothing changes!
I also completely uninstalled IIS 7.5, reinstalled and configured everything again, but nothing changes!
No images, and 500 - Internal server error as soon as I open a folder.
The local connection with the http mode works as it should.
It's definitively not a HFS problem...there must be something broken in this build of Windows 7...that's the only explanation I can think about, so unfair :'(
Ideas?

to know if it's 242, you must restore 241 and see if the problem is solved
I've just checked and HFS works correctly by http (it's locked to listen on localhost)...ok, I confess I've just updated Windows 7 again to another new build, but I did this about 10 times from January and this never happened...I'll check out if I can solve reinstalling IIS and ARR and I'll let you know!

Beta / IIS 7.5 + ARR compatibility - Windows 7 [SOLVED]
« on: June 03, 2009, 06:01:25 PM »
Is there something broken in 242?
I'm using IIS 7.5 (on windows7) and ARR which make the https connection possible, and it always worked great.
This time it does not, I get the main page with no images (I'm using Terrayon 1.3.2 but with rawr-template it's the same story!). I can open some links and/or login, but I get a IIS 500 error when I open some resources or I try to open the missing images directly.... :-[ :-\

I don't know if anyone else has tried it on Windows 7 RC x64 Ultimate, but it appears to work fine. The only thing that doesn't look too nice is the taskbar icon, its a bit rough around the edges, so is notepad++, open source software, I don't expect perfection. But its nice to ask ;D

Also after some minimise/maximise the font in the status bar of HFS became bold and quite ugly... it went away the next minimise/maximise and I haven't seen it happen again. Other than those two small issues it seems to function very nicely.

Here is a screenshot I made up with Aero enabled.
I'm using it since the first beta of Windows 7 x64 came out from MS, and I updated every leak*d version found on keznews.com, now I am using build 7127 and HFS always worked great, together with the whole system that seems reborn ;D
I use IIS 7.5 + ARR (a plugin by MS) that makes me connect to HFS by SSL, and I also have the active-x for remote connections on a specific path I decided. Gotta say rejetto gave an help to make it work wonderfully and give the exact origination IP of the user connecting into the HFS logs, thanks mate.

What do you mean with the font in the status bar!? Seems all right here ;)

Seems I should note that strange problem was observed under Win7, because now I try under XP and can't reproduce.

ah...i fear it was because HFS had no enough privileges to write the data :/
I'm using Win7 from when it came out.I had similar problems with the first 7000 build.Strangely, don't remember why when and how :-\, now on build 7057 I'm using HFS again with no admin privileges given and it works wonderfully.P.S. you can update Win7 7000 to 7057 and see what happens(note it's a long work!), in the meanwhile just try to run HFS as admin (under properties, advanced, run as administrator).

login hangs in firefox 3.07 if you type the wrong password.. it wont let you in at all.. but the problem doesn't happen in IE7

wasnt a problem with 3.06.. but not sure if its an issue with FF or HFS
Mmh I'm using 3.0.7 and it does not hang if I put the wrong password, it simply asks for it again and shows the normal access denied page if you choose cancel..

HFS ~ HTTP File Server / Re: Q / REQ : Proxied client IP detection
« on: February 07, 2009, 05:48:12 PM »
Oh, don't worry, didn't want to say anything similar!!
I only didn't understand if you are willing to implement this or not, and I deducted the answer was no.
Instead, your solution is ok, I don't think the internal communication port could be useful in any environment!
Thanks for your [free!] work for us!!!
