For whatever reason, about 3,000 temporary VFS files appeared in my HFS folder... they all follow names like "hfs.vfs~2136213412.tmp".

Only happened once, don't know why.  Something on the order of 10,000 files.

Wow, this is happening to me now too.  Just started recently, and now hundreds of TMP files appear in my HFS program folder every day.  Can't figure out why -- I haven't changed a thing.

GUESSING:
i think it had something to do with virtual files in folder over real folders on the machine..., the temp file is stored data of the virtual file upload into hfs on a virtual folder...

It could be something else.. that would be my first guess...
Files I have snagged and share can be found on my google drive:

And weirder still:  following a reboot of my Windows 7 PC (with HFS still running), the EXE and VFS files were gone when the new session started.  Not renamed, not recycled, but gone.

I've noticed too that there are hundreds of entries in the "IPS" file too, even though only myself and my brother ever upload and download to this machine.  Virus and trojan scans turn up clean.  What in the world is happening?

These Temp files become all 000, in essence they have been deleted... use recuva( https://www.piriform.com/recuva ) and scan your machine.. you might still find the temp name...

I'm not suprised a restart of the program and or windows will "clean" these temp files...
(most of windows actual temp files do this as well...)

That is not the problem here, the question is why is HFS creating them... I asume it has to do with the VFS and vitural files...

HFS uses that name while the save is not complete.
If there are many of them, then something is wrong with the saving.
Don't know why.
If they are cleared at some point, then i guess they were still pending, and not really abandoned.
