Title: Ok I need some help with this....
Post by: CR1T1C4L on January 11, 2009, 05:34:20 AM
Ok I don't really know where to ask this but if someone can assist me with this situation it would be a major step in my project becoming complete.

Here is the link to my site so you can get an idea of what I am trying to do PSP Junkies (http://pspjunkies.it.cx:1000) now here is what I need help with.

1. the code for folder downloading + icons, I want to have the little icons for folder archiving/downloading like in Terayon template for folders.

2. Gallery view for images but here is the major things with that....

I need to have pages like page-1, page-2 page-3 for users to browse the images without having to load all X amount of images + somehow have 10 thumbnails per page *2 columns, vert scroll if possible* and also if possible I need it in just HTML

3. a guide on how to make thumbnails show on your site...I did a search and I see a few threads for thumbnails/previews but none with guides on how to set them up so I have no idea how to use it. I am more than willing to help make more templates which I can do but I am still learning....

Also like a Server Status Online/Offline icon or image or something like that wouldn't be a bad idea

If the server is off, there will be no connection to hfs, so no point.

That gallery view is sort of possible but at the moment the page number system doesn't work entirely as it should, not from memory, i haven't been around much the last 6 months.

Yea I noticed, the forum seems dead....like 1 or 2 posts a day if that....pretty dry

SO the page thing is out of the question?? also I forgot to mention that my site doesn't use none of the templates that you guys use plus it uses iframes for the most part...like does that matter??

let me see the HTML code for the page view option so I can see how it works if you don't mind

Try not to use iframes or any frames at all when creating a website. They aren't great for usability and can break the back button sometimes.

Your assuming we have the HTML code? I deleted my attempt at creating a traditional style thumbnail gallery a long time ago, it just made more sense to make it as a list in my templates. Not that we were worried about iPhone or PSP when we created them, they are mostly for traditional browsers. I'm not sure if you know how or what, but creating a template generally requires a mixture of HTML, CSS, JS and HFS Macro. Before HFS Macro, templates were very basic.

My best advice is to look through the default template for the basic code snippets required. Take a look at our templates even, and learn how the template engine works. The page by page view was being worked on by mars, but it was only taken so far with what the HFS Macro engine could achieve. I learnt how to program through trial and error, and google. Also a university degree but I mostly learnt the stuff at home in my spare time.

The HTML board itself is a lot quieter than it used to be. I don't really know why, Maybe my templates give amateurs enough to achieve what they need to achieve with HFS, I'm unsure. I miss the days when this board was full of people creating new toys for HFS. But posting in random relevant threads isn't going to get people more active. The only reason I notice is because I subscribe to RSS feeds.

I have a few ideas in my head working around, I understand most (75-90%) of the codes used to create it....just trying to figure out a work around the thing is I don't know what are HFS's limits and what not...I will figuure it out, I also need to find out why HFS wont allow any mobile phones to download anything....I can view the site just can't download
