Bug reports / Re: Message: You cannot select this item

I have seen that behavior when I was testing the new default template.  That message didn't stay visible for me but showed then disappeared.  I think it may be a bug.

How Do You Change The Internet Website Icon

If you have a customized favorite icon to use, simply rename that icon to favicon.ico and drag it into the HFS file system. After that, you can hide the file by right-clicking the file and choosing -> properties -> flags -> Hide so the file doesn't show up in your file list.

ok last question my browser says this when i want to go to the site  " There is a problem with this website's security certificate". The security certificate presented by this website was not issued by a trusted certificate authority". i want it to be a green adress bar not a red one.

You will need a real security certificate issued by a trusted certificate authority.  You can go to this site to purchase one -> http://www.verisign.com/

ok i have 0.36 mb\s upload speed. which converts to around 320 kb\s upload speed. when i am at another persons house the max download from the hfs server is 40 kb\s. my friend has 10 mb\s DOWNLOAD. it doent make sense. i have the latest version of hfs and i am hardwired to the router

8 bits = 1 byte
320 kb/s =  40 kB/s  (you show 40 kb\s)

You answered your own question.  "the max download from the hfs server is 40 kb\s."  It doesn't matter how fast your friends download speed is.  The maximum speed when someone is downloading from your server is 40 kB/s.  If you want to provide something faster, talk to your ISP and get your upload speed increased.  That of course would cost you some $$.

How Do You Remove The File Extension From File Name On the Site

Don't be afraid to look around the various menu options in HFS.

1. Make sure you are in 'expert mode'
2. Right click on the folder that you want to remove file extensions from
3. Select 'properties'
4. Select 'flags'
5. Do it!

HFS ~ HTTP File Server / Re: How to run a second instance of HFS?
« on: May 10, 2010, 08:07:11 AM »
1.  Switch to expert mode in HFS gui
2.  Go to Menu -> Start/Exit -> and uncheck 'Only 1 instance'
3.  Add a copy of HFS.exe to another folder and setup the configuration the way you want
4.  Run hfs from both folders

Bug reports / Re: HFS takes too much memory
« on: April 18, 2010, 10:43:14 PM »
The memory field can be added from Menu -> Debug -> Show memory usage
Thanks.  I didn't realize rejetto added that as a menu option.  We have a huge difference in memory usage though.  Mine is mem: 1,458,428 and in task manager 3,096K.  Maybe it has something to do with I'm running WinXP Pro and just checked memory usage while running HFS locally.

Something looks strange with your screenshots.

First, you are showing you are running build 260 but your task manager shows build 259.  Are you running more than one copy of HFS at the same time?

Second,  your HFS 2.3 build 260 shows at the bottom right of the gui - Mem:684 630 188.  I have never seen a memory field for any build of HFS in the gui.

Thanks.  You addressed the problems I noticed as well as added the new features I suggested for the new default template.  Seems to be working good.  :)

Using google you will find many sites that are dedicated to helping the novice learn HTML.  Go to http://www.w3schools.com/html/default.asp for a good HTML tutorial with many examples.  If you want to make your own customized template, you have to learn the basics.

HFS ~ HTTP File Server / Re: prevent archive download
« on: April 01, 2010, 05:05:27 AM »
In the virtual file system, right click on the folder -> select properties -> flags -> and uncheck 'archivable'.

You might also check the root -> right click on  /  -> select properties -> flags -> uncheck 'archivable' as that would have made all folders in your virtual file system archivable by default (inherited).

@ Maverick

Change the lines 306 at 311 with this "code"; that's all:

Your solution works very good.  Thanks.

I didn't think of doing it that way.  I'll give it a try.  Thanks.
