Is there anyway to run a VPN service only for HFS?
I'm quite curious. On the client side I can't connect via a browser VPN, but on the server side I must route all traffic through the VPN.
Is there any way to configure it to run exclusively on HFS.
I have access to a few paid services: PIA, NordVPN, ExpressVPN and IPVanish.

hamachi is the only vpn (besides hardware - cisco --) that i have tested with hfs
Traffice works through the internet via hamachi vpn ip via a pre conected group of pc
https://www.vpn.net/
(back in the world of warcraft private server days :p )
ip of said pc run through the loopback (127.0.0.1) address

is it possible yes, with routing and other port services that are proviced via a vpn
I don't know of your paid verison, and if they support full portforwarind with there vpn services.
Nor a setup that would work

bmartino1 is right, the VPN you should choose, needs to let you "open ports" on their service, something called "Port forwarding" (like you would need when you use eMule, torrent, or any other P2P protocol). You could find a comprehensive list here (https://www.reddit.com/r/VPNTorrents/comments/3oar5m/list_of_vpns_that_allow_p2p_and_port_forwarding/) and here (https://www.bestvpn.com/best-vpns-for-emule/) (you could also have a tutorial on how to build a private VPN here (https://www.bestvpn.com/setup-private-home-vpn-using-hamachi-privoxy/)).
Please report back with the results of your experiments, to leave a future guide for the rest of the users (thanks!). Keep in touch if you need further help. :)

I have another issue - how to stream Netflix when I'm routing all my traffic on the VPN? I currently have PIA. I can think of two solutions: Either somehow get Netflix to bypass the VPN connection or use a SPAM but I'd like to be able to use any VPN provider.

It's working Fine with TorGuard. You can Also Test It By Yourself.

I don't want to send all my network traffic down to VPN when I'm connected to my company's network (via VPN) from home. For example, when I'm working from home, I would like to be able to backup all my files to the Time Capsule at home and still be able to access the company's internal network. SPAM

;D WOW, this seems to be the perfect spam hole in the forum. The last five message on this thread contain a link (doing some kind of spam). I don't know if they are human or smart bots that talk something related to the topic to 'look like' a human being. It's an interesting phenom! (and I'm curious to know why those spam links are not removed). ???
