HFS speed--very slow--

First of all, I have to tell you that I LOVE YOUR HFS!!!
I've been using it since 2.0 through all the Beta's!
I point people to your site and almost all of my friends
are using it.

Enough buttering, let me tell you why I'm writing to you...
When somebody is downloading from me, the HFS does
NOT allow speeds greater than 60 Kb/s, except in an
initial burst (1 sec. lenght) of about 1000Kb/s, after witch
drops to 60 Kb/sec.

It did that from the very begining when I start using it, up untill
now.

My speeds are: Download--8 MB/Sec
UPLOAD:  --3 (THREE) MB/Sec.

The speeds are not configured (default) by me, thus theorethically
allowing maximum speeds both ways.

Anyone cares to show to a poor n00b the light?
I need more speed to give, but I don't know where
to go to tweak it (if there is such a place inside HFS).

BTW, if I use an FTP client, then others can download
from me with about 1500~2000 Kb/sec.

Thank you hor your help in this crucial matter for me.

1. what version are you using?
2. see if the CPU is 100% occupied while uploading
3. what kind of connection you have to reach such speed? :)
are you sure you get that speed on the internet?
4. did you try resetting HFS options? (just hold SHIFT and start HFS)

Thank you Rejetto for answering so fast...

1) 2.0 beta 20
2) CPU at 5%
3) Road Runner with premium account, and yes,
I have these speeds on the net.
4) No, I didn't try to reset it, I didn't know how.

Right now I'm at work, but when I get home, I'll
post here and let you in, maybe you can see something that I don't.

One more thing, I changed the port to 8050, do you
think that has anything to do with it?

Sorry, I forgot to put my name in the above post.

I changed the port to 8050 before I start using it the
very first time, for security reasons. And I never
gave it a second thought.

When I get home from work, I'll change it back
to 50 (that's the default, right?) and see if that
will change anything.

In the mean time any more advice on the matter?

it think it doesn't

another thing you can try is to temporarely disable your firewall

Ok, I'll try that (the firewall).

I also have a differrent skin (somebody gave it to me), but
it was doing the same with the default one also.

What got me puzzled is: let's say you just start a new
download from me. You start with (let's say) 1000 Kb/s,
and then in 1-2 sec, goes down to 60 Kb/s and stays
there, like it's programmed to do that.

(default is 80)

Oh, thank you, that means I just added the 50 in the end,
that's how I ended up with 8050.

Come in and take a look and try to download something
so we can see the speed. I changed the version
to beta 21 and the port to 1234. Here is the address:

http://XXXXXXXXXX:1234/
User: zone
Pass: spin

Take anything you need...

my max download speed is 350k
anyway i just get to ~20k when i download from you
i guess it is because of the sub-network between me and you
question: does the speed problem exist if you download in localhost?

But I have friend with the same speed as me and
they still get 60 KB/s.
Can you please download something bigger and
give it a chance for the speed to stabilize?

Like "Adobe Photoshop" or "Acrobat"?

Localhost? Like hrom me to myself?

I just checked that, and the speed is 41448.18 Kb/s!!!!
I guess it's irrelevant...
