HFS ~ HTTP File Server / Re: Suggestion:To save about 50% bandwidth
« on: January 10, 2008, 07:11:18 PM »
for single text files (som 1..100 kBytes) normally the serverload is not very significant, but downloading whole folders it would be interesting to have a compressor option instead of full-size tar.

I think "full-size tar" is also can be compressed by gzip when it's being transferred.  "Transfer with gizp" and "downloading whole folders in tar" is two  individual functions.

I notice that hfs has a option "compressed browsing",it can compress index pages, and save bandwidth.
but hfs can't compress files. Maybe hfs can add a function just like gzip or modd-z of ftp.
It will save about 50% bandwidth when file is txt/doc.

now ips is more than 50000.

when i click "add to hfs" to add a file to hfs,I can see two hfs.exe in task manager, one was normal, the other was use up almost 100% cpu and continued for about 10 seconds. then one hfs.exe disappeared. if reset ips-ever-connected, all is ok.

I think it can be repeated with my hfs.ini

I'm using 124.

test over.

It doesnt matter. If your leaving it somewhat exposed and its temporary its still subject to ddos, although I don't know why anyone would want to, but 15000 hits seems redonkeylous, what are you using it for?

I konw hfs is a privite and personal server. But I just want to test hfs with lagre hits. It's easy to get thousands hits if you post your link to bbs. because some hot bbs's topics are easy to get thousands views at an hour.

In 2 days,ips increase to 30000, and hfs.ini is 430KB

it's only a personal temporarily server. not worth  attacking with ddos.
I just post server's url in a hot BBS. It's test to hfs only.

Is this a bug you are reporting?
no,just show the statistics.
I still think hfs.ini is too large. because ips increase fast. I wish ips can store in a single file instead of hfs.ini.

ips-ever-connected is about 15000 in 24 hours.

20071111.hfs.ini.txt size is 212KB.

minimize to tray,memory usage:4.6MB, virtual memory usage:12MB

HFS ~ HTTP File Server / limit on downloads
« on: November 04, 2007, 03:30:59 PM »
Sorry for my carelessness. I have find the option.
But It didn't work with firefox.

I want user to download file with less than 2 connections, but don't limit user to browse folder page.

So I set "max simultenous downloads from single address" :2, and speedlimit:50K
The other limit option :disable

Result:
IE and Opera: user can only download file with 2 connection, and at same time the user can browse  folder.
Firefox: user can only download file with 2 connection, and at same time the user can't open folder page, just waiting till file downloaded.

I have test with 138 and 126, occurred same question.

I can't find the option "limits -->Max connections (from single address)" .

I think it's a useful option.

when I set 5 for "Max connections from single address", user can only download file with 5 connection, at same time, user can also browse folder page. But now can't set max connections.

I download 128,it has "limits -->Max connections (from single address)".
