do you want HFS to have a table to translate addresses to names?
it seems a good idea
the table could also work with masks/ranges

Sounds like a good idea.

ok, but now i need a name for this feature.
internally, it is called localDNS, but it is not a good name for any user.
a lot of people would not understand what it is, and some more would think it is actually a standard DNS server (but local).
please advice...

I would like to think it IS standard DNS IP resolver +  local names support.  I was trying a small program called NetMsg (I think freeqopen source) - it uses the local PC names for intenal mesages' ID . May be you can do the same, w/o any translation.

im sorry if its in wrong place or it was posted erlier

there are 2 things that i was found missing in hfs.

-folder "new" flag shuld be added only if there is new file inside somwhere up in tree. not when folder is new.
-it whuld be usefull (if it is possible) to combine multiple downloads from same file\user (like when user uses (damn english) download accelerating software that splits it, and suck simultaneously) to one line.

i should check every file in the folder, and in subfolders. this may take several seconds. it would overload the server. i think it is not a good idea.

Would it be possible to include in the logs the speed in KB/s when a file is downloaded and uploaded?  Somehow getting the speed information from the download and upload progress windows or wherever else the download and upload speed is recorded.

That log information would tell the admin just how well the server is performing with the connection that they have.

Thanks rejetto.  Average speed is now logged.

However, I don't see new HTML template symbols %speed-out%, %speed-in%, %connections% in the beta 7 HTML template anywhere like you say in your comment above.  Is that the way it should be?

I added  %speed-out%, %speed-in%, %connections% to my template in various locations and it didn't work.  The only thing that was shown was  the symbols text (%speed-out%, %speed-in%, %connections%) but no values for those were shown for those symbols.
