salut,

Sometimes life gives U these little gifts  ;D

My use of HFS all started here Topic MP3 streaming about interacting J River Media Center with HFS  :P
A year and 1/2 later got a mail from Jim River & staff announcing part of the Media Center the "The Media Jukebox" going free !

So get your opinion and research going, if U want to try http://www.mediajukebox.com/index.html

Quite funny ... 2 month later : no reaction ? no feedbacks? no comment ?
As for me : I 've recommanded Media Jukebox to connected users now it is free ... and we've got a hell a good time exchanging extensive playlists throught HFS (*.mpl)

I was using iTunes for a while cause it supported 5.1 and my iPod etc and sounded awesome through my sound system, but it really is a resource hog, 60mb memory and 20-30% cpu, and doesn't support .flac. Before that I used Winamp. I am now back to Winamp cause it plays .flac format files, is very lightweight and uses pretty much no cpu to play music, and now works nicely with my 5.1 sound system over my 7.1 sound card. I guess i never got into playlists personally, i just add my entire music directory :) and hit shuffle

I took a look at this player... LOVING IT! 20mb memory 2% cpu, I am gonna try it out for a week. I do like how they ripped off the iTunes interface :P with minor differences. If you want a music solution with a pretty interface that plays many filetypes, this mediajukebox could be for you.

You should  'cause JRiver Jukebox Player is a media player which is .... "a music solution with a pretty interface that plays many filetypes"

Alltogether, with the Media Jukebox on both ends, makes sense to send playlist in any audio format through HFS  ;)

Thanks! Nice player, seems verry packed with futures. This is a keeper :)

Ive never been into playlists that much either..
So, if i understad you correctly TCube: If you downloaded my playlist from HFS, you could access my music?  Is it a sharing function in JRiverJukebox?

No there is no sharing or server functions with Jukebox (note : there are some servers possibilities JRiver/Tivo/UPnP but within the $$$ Mediacenter upgrade)

So to simplifiy :

- Create a directory on your HD and dump any files you wish to test...
- Make a real folder of that directory ..
- Make a playlist (*.mpl) out of the HD directory from JR Jukebox ..
- Change letter drive (i.e D: E: F: etc..) by http:// yoursite. xxxx/
- Add the playlist to your HFS

After all this, i'ts all parameters : hide real folder on your HFS / restrict access or not /  ....

If you've set up extension *.mpl to be opened by JRiverJukebox then you ... can save playlist, open playlist as url , save them up as many different "disk location" you wish, etc.   .... U don't even need to go back to HFS anymore :you log in directly from Jukebox interface.

Don't forget playlist could be in any format not exclusively *.mp3
