HFS ~ HTTP File Server / Re: File server problems

I really don’t know what to say. I have no clue whether I ended up fixing it or not. It was a long long time ago.

I have a Synology disk station that can access the users filesystem if you press allow when the java application want to run :-)

So it probably is possible since they can do that :-)

But a zip stream is the best solution, a tar archive isnt a possibility for the end user :-)

Yeah, but what if you don't open the log-file or forget. Nothing would remind you of that HFS is running :-)

But in that way HFS could be running and you would not know :-( There need to be a way so when you look on the screen you would in the same moment be reminded that HFS is running :-). Else, I would see it as a security problem and HFS does not deserve that ;-)

I think that HFS should run in the background, invisible :-D

And then you could install something like a plugin that correspond to your p,at forms to get a tray-icon :-)

The only problem is: what if the user dosen't install a tray icon, you could have the server running without the knowledge of that it was running. So I think that this solution would be great if anyone had a idea about how to accomplish this problem :-D

Run a Java application on the users computer. In that way the files can be transferred to the user without compressing or something similar. The only problem is that the user need to have Java installed - but we are in the 21 century, I mean: who doesen't have Java installed? The only thing that needs to be done is the user allow the Java application to run, and then if the user deny it could just download all the files compressed :-)

I think that would be the best solution :-)

In which language is it written?

And what i thought about was a tray icon which - when you click on it would look like this:

------------------------------
           User Web
-------------------------------
   Administration page
=================
            Quit
-------------------------------

So that everything is on the web, the administration interface and it all, so that the only thing you are running on your computer is a invisible server :-)

That will also make administration a lot more easy, because you can do it from whatever computer you want :-)

Won't what be cool?

No, if you need to access your HFS files from another computer outside your home network(house) you would need to open the port you're using and point to your local IP address :-)

Hope you can use that :-)

I'm using the default template, and using the newest beta version of HFS which is #279 :)

Hope someone can help, couse i really do'nt know what to do! I thought about, could i make so if the user name was æøå so i instead of that put æø&åring; ?

How to i make a script that write all the user names and their passwords to a file, without randomize their passwords?

And, how do i protect the section with the password randomizer?

I'm new in macros, so i don't know pretty much :(

And another problem, all students with danish letters (æ, ø, å) cannot login, what should i do with that?

And is it possible to make all the users be a part of the group can change password?
