Hi, i'm running out of disk space, so i will buy another external hard drive.
The point is that i'd like to have a single box with 2 or more HDs inside.
Do you know any?

first, thank you guys for your time. :)
sadly, thinkgeek and lacie work only in RAID setup, and i don't want it. (cannot afford the mirrored configuration, and cannot trust the striped configuration)
i didn't verified others because they are too expensive.

 it is the first example

Raid can dissociate hard drives! don't stop on this word ;)

http://www.lacie.com/download/manual/um_2bigdual_en.pdf

on page 20

In JBOD mode (Just a Bunch of Disks), the two
physical disks work as two independent hard drives in
one single housing so that two logical volumes mount
on the desktop.

important info: If one physical disk fails, its data
are become inaccessible, but the second disk continues
to work independently.

you are right mars!
sadly they sell the box only with 2 disks inside.
i need to buy a box and eventually a 1TB disk.
the second slot would be for my current other disk.
buying the 2x500GB would result in no free slot, and i cannot afford the 2x1TB.

Disks did not require to have the same size, you can have one disk of 1Go and one of 500Mo, so according to the mode raid as you chosen, you can have two different partitions of 500 and 1000 Mb, or a single partition of 1500 Mo grouping together  both disks as if it ny had that of it the only one.

The only constraint is that both disks are the same type PATA or SATA or SCSI

In the case of a mirroring raid, the maximal size of the partition which can be created is the one of the smallest disk in that case particular. And I shall not speak here about the mode about RAID where the data are fairly distributed on each of the disks because for a good configuration Raid  are needed at least 4 disks also sizes if possible. ;)
