Slow download speeds

Hi, I'm getting 100-150 kbps download speeds when using the internet. My speed test results indicate that I should be getting faster speeds. Is there a router setting I should adjust or an HFS setting that I can tweak? Thanks!

My guess:

I'm getting 100-150 kbps download speeds

is in KB/s instead of Kb/s
So: 150KB/s = 1200Kb/s
And if your upload speed is 1635Kb/s
Then 1200Kb/s isn't too bad...

Speed limit is disabled. According to my upload speed, people should be downloading off me at ~200Kilobits per second. 1634/8 = 204.

Thanks for the suggestion. I'm not sure how to set up an FTP-server, which is one of the reasons I use HFS. How can I do that?

anyway, i asked my server (rejetto.com) to download a big file from you (being admin on the forum i can see your IP), and from your-ip/~progress i saw about 140KB/s.

i know sometimes HFS is not fast enough.
i don't know at the moment how to improve speed in such cases.
i don't even have such a fast internet connection to make tests.

I ran the FTP experiment using Filezilla and got more or less the same download speed as when HFS is used. I was not able to get even 140 kilobits/s. It was more like maximum 110 kilobits/second. The computer that I was using to test the FTP server was on high speed DSL, so who knows what their speed was. It appears that HFS is Not the issue.

Maybe it is because the computer that I am using to host the HFS server is on wireless and not hard wired to the cable modem? Thoughts?
