HFS ~ HTTP File Server / no more upload window?
« on: November 01, 2010, 03:01:34 PM »
maybe i missed something, but there is no more status window or status frame when uploading.  just an observation when i was switching back-and-fourth between 155 and 271.  not necessary, but kind of a nice feature to have...unless i just screwed something up again... :)

HFS ~ HTTP File Server / redirect not working properly
« on: October 19, 2010, 09:35:10 PM »
(build 271) -- i've noticed that when you leave all of the parent folders open (inherited) and a child folder has a permission on it, the redirect works fine on login, but if you restrict access from root (so that user is required to login just to GET TO hfs), even if the bottom-most child folder has access all of the way from root down, it does not redirect properly, it just opens to root.  this is also true if you restrict access to ANY of the folders from root down to the bottom-most child folder, even if that user has been given permission in ANY or ALL of the parent folders between the bottom-most and root.

hey guys, sorry to bring this up, but i'm using build 155 (2.2) because it is the latest stable build and i can't risk using any betas for this project until 2.3 is gold (it's for security and stability reasons for a client).  anyway, is there a way that when i am setting "restrict access" for folders, i can select multiple users at a time in the drop-down list that 2.2 provides?  i tried SHIFT and CTRL with arrow keys but no luck.  please tell me there is a way to do it because i would hate to have to set all of the access permissions one-at-a-time.  thanks!

HFS ~ HTTP File Server / Re: inheritable upload permissions

r][m is right...they are inherited.  they are all real, but it doesn't matter if they are actually part of the tree in HFS, as long as the parent folder has the rights, it trickles down to the child folders as long as they are real on the hard drive, which is fine and works for me and this project.  i only have the parent (real), child (real), and ONE grandchild (real) folders on the HFS tree, but when opened in browser, i can click on any grandchild folder (since it's real on the hard drive), and see everything and also have full rights, same as were set for admin on parent folder (access, upload, delete, etc...). so all rights are inherited for admin whether it's actually ON the HFS tree or just on drive...as long as parent is real and rights are set accordingly.

actually, i just gave 266 a spin and the GUI seems a bit friendlier.  i shouold be able to upgrade HFS for my client (and myself) as soon as 2.3 is stable.  thanks!

you're right! in 266, it works perfectly! as soon as it gets released as a stable version, i can implement it. Thanks! :)

yes, sir...still using 2.2f (155).  i'm using the latest stable build because it's for a client, so i can't take too many chances with a beta.  however, i have figured out how to work with HFS a little more, and i was able to resolve some of the problems that i had encountered in my previous thread.  i don't think that i will become as fluent as i would like with HFS, however, but if the interface was configured a little differently, i think that i should be able to get the job done with relative ease.  thanks again, rejetto! :)

nada...tried drag-and-drop and none of the child folders inherited the permissions from the parent folder.

HFS ~ HTTP File Server / inheritable upload permissions
« on: August 23, 2010, 04:23:45 PM »
how can i set upload permissions for only one user, but for the parent folder so that only THAT user and NO OTHERS can login, and be able to upload to the parent folder and any of the child folders?  so, basically, i just have to give upload rights to one user on the parent folder, but then ANY folder (the parent folder or ANY child folder) that the user is in, the child folders have the inherited upload permission, also.  essentially, inherited permissions.  Thanks! :)

HFS ~ HTTP File Server / non-scrolling list
« on: August 23, 2010, 03:51:21 PM »
when assigning folder permissions to several users, is there any way to have the list come up in columns (like Start --> All Programs in XP) instead of just having one long, single-column, scrolling list?

do you know yet when 2.3 is going to be completed?  if i could just edit the .ini file and type everything manually in plain text, that would also work perfectly and it would be much faster than converting from base64.  is there any way right now that i could use plain text to still get this done, or is it just going to be a fix that is included with the final 2.3?

i can't get any of the scripts to work right.  the shortcut keys (F7 and ALT+F6) aren't even working for me and when i tried to edit the .ini file, save, quit, and restart HFS, nothing happened.  i checked the .ini file and it reverted back to what it was before i edited it.  when i tried to edit the html template, opening the page in the browser also did not produce the desired results (the hfs page didn't even load).  i think i'm in over my head.  i don't know enough about scripting to use hfs to its full potential.  i'd still like to use it for this project, but it looks like i'm just going to have to do it the long way.  thanks anyway, rejetto. still a kick-ass piece of software! :D
