Hi everyone. I have a situation and I would like to know how other people solve this.
I have a lot of pictures from events (holidays, parties etc). 1 folder per event. All these 'eventfolders' are in my D:\Pictures\Photos folder.
Now I don't want to share my entire Picture folder via HFS to everyone. But not everyone has to see all my private photos
and I dont think people would like it if I would simply share all my photos with everyone who has access to the Pictures folder.
So I created a virtual folder "Pictures".
If I want to share a specific 'eventfolder', I simply add this folder as real folder to HFS\Pictures.
And I set the permissions for the people who are allowed to view that specific eventfolder.
So a person A would be able to see eventfolder1, 2 and 5. While a person B can see eventfolder3 and 4 and 5.
So far so good... now here comes the tricky part: I am not the only photographer!
For example, on a birthday, 3 people made pictures. They want to upload their pictures.
The first one that would upload his/her photos will have to create a folder first ofcourse. But it's not possible to create a folder via HFS if the root is a virtual folder!
So for now I have created Pictures/Uploads. Uploads is a real folder in D:\Pictures\Photos\Uploads. People can create folders for their events in this subfolder. And I would have to move these folders to Pictures\Photos, add them to HFS and set the appropiate permissions.
Would it be possible in the near future to set an upload location for a virtual folder? So that people can create folders in virtual folders? Its hard to explain to people why they cannot create a folder in some of the folders, but they can in others.
Also... if one would create a folder... it would be nice if heshe could set the permissions as well... but thats not really very important.
