Before you spent more time on Wake On Lan, I'd like to share my experience:

I simply used this site:
http://mobile.wakeonlan.me/

It's fantastic, I know my hostname so I just saved my MAC address in Yahoo! Notepad.
Now I can wake up my pc from anywhere in the world. And this site is also very accessible on any mobile phone.

THE DOWNSIDE:
most modems/routers send a signal to every attached PC every now and then. Could be after 4 hours, after 8 hours or after 1 hour. This signal is ALSO interpreted as WOL signal. Thus your pc wil start up...

Its annoying, when I go to the bedroom at night and see a light burning.... the PC is on! but I shut it off!?
Or when you leave the home, come home and the PC was on all day or the whole week or whatever.

After a while I disabled WOL... since there is no solution for this. And it was more a gimmick feature for me.

Sounds very cool. Bit complicated for noobs perhaps.
But is it possible to add support for OGG files? And perhaps even FLAC? And AAC (m4a)?
I have a lot of Ogg Vorbis music files...
Ofcourse support for avi (mpeg4 video and mp3 audio, most downloaded tvshows) would also be great.

Hi everyone. I have a situation and I would like to know how other people solve this.

I have a lot of pictures from events (holidays, parties etc). 1 folder per event. All these 'eventfolders' are in my D:\Pictures\Photos folder.

Now I don't want to share my entire Picture folder via HFS to everyone. But not everyone has to see all my private photos :) and I dont think people would like it if I would simply share all my photos with everyone who has access to the Pictures folder.

So I created a virtual folder "Pictures".
If I want to share a specific 'eventfolder', I simply add this folder as real folder to HFS\Pictures.
And I set the permissions for the people who are allowed to view that specific eventfolder.

So a person A would be able to see eventfolder1, 2 and 5. While a person B can see eventfolder3 and 4 and 5.

So far so good... now here comes the tricky part: I am not the only photographer!
For example, on a birthday, 3 people made pictures. They want to upload their pictures.

The first one that would upload his/her photos will have to create a folder first ofcourse. But it's not possible to create a folder via HFS if the root is a virtual folder!

So for now I have created Pictures/Uploads. Uploads is a real folder in D:\Pictures\Photos\Uploads. People can create folders for their events in this subfolder. And I would have to move these folders to Pictures\Photos, add them to HFS and set the appropiate permissions.

Would it be possible in the near future to set an upload location for a virtual folder? So that people can create folders in virtual folders? Its hard to explain to people why they cannot create a folder in some of the folders, but they can in others.

Also... if one would create a folder...  it would be nice if heshe could set the permissions as well... but thats not really very important.

router & port problems / Re: IP address without port, possible?
« on: September 14, 2009, 07:52:34 AM »
Ok thanks I didn't know that.
I am using dyndns.org (free account) so that I can use a nice domain name instead of IP address but I couldn't find any option to set a port for the ip address.
So I guess using port 80 is the best way to go! thanks!

The Delete button says "lv_delete", also for the download all button it says lv_

that seems incorrect. Everything else is perfect it's only the bottom part seems weird, I made a screenshot of the weird part.
How come nobody else reported this? What could I have done wrong?

Also.. where is the admin panel? Or is that a seperate download... because I hope there is a Logout button on the panel.. or somewhere..

router & port problems / IP address without port, possible?
« on: September 10, 2009, 08:59:04 PM »
When I want to access my HFS externally, I type in my dyndns link + portnumber (blalbla.blala.com:100).

Portforwarding in my router has been setup so that port 100 will be forwarded to my pc.

Everything works fine actually.

But I was wondering, would it be possible to only enter blalba.blalbla.com and see HFS? Without ":100" ?

I've read here people are using port 80.... but is that safe? Or is it wise? Because I use the same pc for internet, email, utorrent, filezilla FTP server... and I thought that port 80 is the default port for webbrowsing, so I cannot use that port for HFS. Also I thought it would be safer to give HFS its own port (and '100' seems simple).

HFS ~ HTTP File Server / How to Logout?
« on: September 10, 2009, 08:50:05 PM »
A very simple question..
When I want to test the rights of different user accounts in my browser, I have to delete my cookies because there is no Logout button available.

I am using the modded RAWR 012 with delete functionality and stuff... but I can't find such a simple thing.. to logout!

Also I have read about an Admin panel, perhaps the Logout button is in the panel? I am using latest beta but I can't find an admin panel. Perhaps it must be supported by the template? But the latest official RAWR and latest mod don't have this panel.
