HFS ~ HTTP File Server / Ignore IP in log....multiple subnets
« on: October 21, 2010, 02:29:44 AM »
I know I can put in a IP mask to ignore a single IP (or particular subnet of IPs). But I need to test from both inside (192.168.x.x) and outside. Can I put more than one subnet in the 'ignore' box?

HTML & templates / Only allowing anon access (do not want!)
« on: October 14, 2010, 09:35:37 PM »
I am not sure what I did....don't remember making any changes. But...

Today, when I logged on to my HFS server from work I could not get in. I wasn't even prompted to log in; just a white screen. So I remoted into the physical server and took a look. Server resources looked good and was ON and appeared to be fine.

I checked my account and had read/write/delete on the root / of the VFS. I tried using the 'open in browser' directly from the server, and even it didn't ask for a login...just a white screen with the eternal progress bar in the browser. I set the root of the VFS to 'anonymous'...nothing.

However, when I re-permissioned / with 'anyone' it came up fine; both locally and across the web. So I know my domain, network, and firewall are all functioning. I am kind of stumped here...

Using 2.3 beta Build#267

HTML & templates / HFS "Maintenance page"
« on: October 11, 2010, 07:43:01 PM »
I know something like this has been discussed before (something about a downtime page). But I am looking something a bit different.

Should HFS be down completely (switched off), can I have the server serve (see what I did there?) a simple 'try again later' page? Obviously a tpl won't work because HFS is off. So I am thinking an html page in place that would only come up in this circumstance.

The thing is, I don't really know how HFS presents itself to the web. I have Apache installed on the same server, and I still do and it's running. T here is a 'index.htm' file in the www folder. Before I had HFS, anyone who went to my site saw the index file. But once HFS was running all requests were taken to the HFS frontdoor. Given that fact, one would assume (as I did) that HFS could just be turned off again and people would see the index.htm file again, but now they just see a 404 error (or equivalent) unless that go to the specific I| (including the port).I  didn't make any changes to my server (other than running a single exe for HFS), so I don't really know how HFS does this.

Can someone educate me? And, if this is in a FAQ somewhere, please point me there?

HTML & templates / Multiple templates (based on browser)
« on: October 04, 2010, 02:24:03 AM »
Can one configure so as to present a particular templates based on the browser family? For example, one connects with an iPhone and they get the iPhone template. But another user connects with a traditional browser, and gets the typical template. Perhaps it could be done by running multiple instances of HFS, using two URLs? Like www.whatever.stuff & mobile.whatever.stuff for mobile browser families...

My apologies if this is one of the gazillion questions that have already been discussed (could not find the topic in search).
