Bug reports / Double login dialog
« on: November 20, 2007, 12:20:56 AM »
maybe its me and my server (btw im using the newest build..   and firefox.)  but anyway..  when i, or anyone else logs into my hfs the first time they try to log in, it returns the login box.  Its like the username and password was mistyped.  Any way it always logs in on the second try.  I have been able to reproduce this with every account that i have active on my server..  also im using the redirect.  i have set up a guest account on my hfs  www.aguyincookeville.com  login button on top right hand side of main page..  username guest password guest
its a real folder so feel free to upload if youd like...   so anyway.. what do you all think? anyone else had this issue?? just curious..

you have two login box because you had define 'set user/pass' and 'restricts access for users' in the same time
reset 'set user/pass'   and test another login

okay i see what your saying...  but let me say it back to you...  when i click on the login button on the front of my page.. the two logins are popping up because the first one is for the protected "asset" and the other one is for the "redirect" link... correct? so in theory i could take off the password protection of the "asset" and that should eliminate one of the popup login boxes.... does that make sense?

okay so i just went and eliminated the password protection of my guest account.  And that eliminated the second popup username and password box.  But then that begs the question... whats the point of password protecting sensitive documents and whatnots?  is there a way to have my cake and eat it too?? a auto redirect and login to password protected areas with one login??  i know i know... i dont want much and this is a free program... yet again thanks rejetto..  but still maybe im missing something..  i just cant go with out password protection and i really do enjoy the auto-redirect...  idk im sure someone will come up with something..
thanks for reading..

p.s the guest/guest password protection is back on the guest folder....so thats two log in boxes you will have to go thru.... thanks!

HFS ~ HTTP File Server / having to re-login using .htm files
« on: October 18, 2007, 05:08:36 PM »
my hfs is hosting a "mixed" web.  It is based in frames, aguyincookeville.com main page is a frames page and when you click a link it takes you to /storage /homework /uploads or /random  the /storage and the /homework and parts of /random are password protected.  Lets say i click the link for /storage and enter my username and password it logs me in and i browse just fine.  But if i click /homework (which by the way has the same permission level as /storage) hfs doesnt recognize that im logged in as my user account and it makes me log in again.  The same happens when i go to  /random the "admin level" stuff isnt displayed instead i get the login icon.
The folders that i login to keep me logged in... i can go back and forth after i have logged in.. so its not losing the login..

idk.. its not really a problem i was just wondering if someone else has had these issues and if they had a nifty click here solution...
thanks for pondering.

p.s tested in Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1.7) Gecko/20070914 Firefox/2.0.0.7
p.s.s im also using hfs 2.2a build 136

HFS ~ HTTP File Server / strange occurrence....
« on: August 19, 2007, 05:31:49 AM »
so i have two computers running on a network.. my file server is running hfs 2.2a b124.  every hour at the same time... well with in 2-4 seconds i notice on the log that my main computer (the one i dont use as a file server) ip addy 192.168.1.101 has connected to the hfs server.  doesnt matter what port hfs runs on... i used to run port 7000 got the connection now im running port 80 still get the connection. heres another twist... i formatted my main computer two days ago... still get the "ping" or connection or what ever it is... every hour on the hour... i dunno... its no big deal.. but just strange..

thanks

HFS ~ HTTP File Server / ddns who is the best?
« on: July 30, 2007, 12:58:17 AM »
Which DDNS company does everyone use? I am on the edge of making a choice and i didn't know which company was the best to use.  I do own a domain name www.aguyincookeville.com that is accessed currently through another website that i have hosted through 3essentials.   I want to eliminate the reoccurring cost of hosting.  So what DDNS company do you use??

rejetto - sorry if this is the wrong place for this question but i didnt know where else to turn.

thank you all in advance
