can it say folder.zip instead of tar?

nope...  zip is compressed  .tar is not..  hfs can not currently compress files.

It was found on the front page under software!!  perhaps we who use bitTorrent should download it and seed it... I know i will...   Good work rejetto and heres hoping that this brings much more attention to HFS!!!!

HFS ~ HTTP File Server / Re: 100K
« on: February 04, 2008, 03:59:32 PM »
you know... tracked or not... i say have hfs generate a random value. ip.ip.ip.value. if hfs has taught me anything its that everything we do, look at or download on the internet is tracked. so ill put money on the fact that the people that would feel tracked..... already are..
and one more idea have a autocheck marked function for hfs reporting, and allow people to opt out of being counted (tracked).. ie no ip ip ip.value being sent..

idk just a thought...

HFS ~ HTTP File Server / Re: Home File Server for Windows Home Server
« on: January 01, 2008, 10:03:50 AM »
Has anybody tried HFS on Windows Home Server? I hear it is a chopped down version of Win2003.
NewEgg:  http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16832116395

great idea... hear it works great!! tho only thing.... any drive that is connected to the server be it at setup or connected later is formatted.  =((((  i understand why... but it just adds to the possibility of your stuff getting formatted!  nothing worse than losing those 120 gigs o mp3s and .avi's because you failed to read the SUPER fine print!!!
just my two cents

you can also place a robots.txt file in the root directory... like mine is www.aguyincookeville.com/robots.txt  and that will stop em as well!! i also have issue with robots.. darn goggle, yahoo and ask.com robots.. but this text file has pretty well stopped them.  enjoy!
