bind to root
Select drive D

(for HFS simplicity)
Drag n drop everything in drive into HFS
*select real folder if asked!

Open Web Browser...

when added a real folder in VFS, by default this is visible for all users, select  it and go to property--> permission> upload and select who can upload in this folder only

if you have no upload it's because you create a virtual folder
in vfs, a real folder icon is red, not yellow when it's a sub folder of root

since you are using a virtual machine, it is better to give the computer virtual machine access write to the drive, as i believe it is an  file permission issue.

any way...

You need to define a folder permission via the properties in HFS...

so for simplicity as there is a default HFS coding for upload folders!

In the USB, lets Make a upload folder called " Upload"

Then lets verify access right to it, specifically to add "everyone" and give it full control

then drag that folder into HFS and select "yes", (it is auto added as a real folder....)

then as you said earlier not being able to have access / didn't know where the tab...

Lets verify that the upload folder has upload permissions

see pictures:
(all of which was said in this post....)

how can i see the whole USB drive

i have no probe helping yo out here, posting the video of what your trying to do would be help full.

i'm familiar with hak 5
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pJYSqacCjjc

so fist lets define
your original post - topic was:

------------------
I have a USB drive that i want to mount
so instead of Home ill see D:\ for example and when enter the ip i can upload and download files to the the USB
------------------

which is done via bind to root at that point anything on the drive path that was bind is now accessible via the IP
* I prefer seeing what is being shared in the hfs window as it is also for quick access to web links / file paths... for html coding stuff if needed latter...

Since the web server "/" is now d: thank to the bind

going to the interface ip will bring up what ever in in drive d:

so i don't understand what you mean when you post:
------------------------------------------
how can i see the whole USB drive
------------------------------------------

since that is accomplished via the bind and going to the interface adapter.

*you also wanted an upload folder... / ability to uplaod, it you right click root and enable anyone access with out adding and folder, just doing the "bind to path feature" ... then you have access to the whole drive and there should be a html option to on the webpage to upload a file...

so what "specific feature" are you looking for???

Form what i read int he post, i would recommend:
As you also said you are in a virtual machine, there may be a limitation on how you are sharing the network adapter...
if you want the host machine (the original machine running the virtual) you will need a "nat - shared adapter" that way in the virtual it is accessible outside the virtual machine.

also i would recommend everyone file access to the USB drive for easier write / read access and use for program compatibility...

Possible just the hfs bind to path with / upload permission defined...
*don't forget to save the VFS , as i assume you are making it portable

Like i said before you answered my question in the post and its working
this is just for my personal info that i dont ge t how to do what there is in this video
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F4Y7Qe4Rnkg starts at about 5 minute
he has his flash USB showing and not a folder

p.s whats the use of saving a VFS file? when i do that it doesnt seem an open file

the point of the VFS is when you close HFS to save all the change you done with in hfs. other than that, it not that important..
you can save the file to a space, then load it once you open hfs....

so i see now what the you tube person did, at video point 5:15

For program access and simplicity, i assume you will be on a windows box
adn HFS willb e located at htis file directory:
C:\HFS\hfs.exe

open hfs

open my pc and drag and drop the drive letter into hfs

*NO binding is needed!

open the webpage and you will be brought to root with a list of the drive letter.

we must be careful with the sharing of removable devices,

it is because the letter attributed to them vary somewhat, if the USB key is F and another external drive is connected before it is the disc content that will be shared and not that of the key that will G or H.

To avoid this problem, you must go to disk management and assign a letter specifically to the key, starting with the end of the alphabet
