Hi,

I can connect to HFS on my 2.0.1 iPhone, when i try to play a mp3, it opens the "quicktime" player i mobilesafari.
i get "Loading Movie" but than i get an error message "This movie could not be played"

Are there any setting on HFS what need to be corrected? Please help.

Thanx

tell your mobilesafari to open it with your media player instead of the embedded quicktime.
i have no iphone, and even no mac, so i cannot try myself.

I'm resurrecting this thread because I have this exact problem. I'm trying to play MP3 files served up via HFS.

I'm not sure what the problem is because I have a web host where if I have a direct link to an MP3 file, I can easily surf to the link in Safari on the iPhone and play the file by clicking on it. But with HFS, the iphone complains and stops with a "Cannot Play Movie" and "The file is not available." It's so strange because they both should be doing the same thing (easily playing the MP3 file), but on my host (apache) it works and on HFS it doesn't. And yes, I've added MIME type.

Any ideas?

It took a while, but I figured it out. The "Prevent Leeching" option breaks the iPhone's ability to play MP3 files linked inside HFS rendered web pages. Once I turned that off, the iPhone does a great job of progressively downloading and playing MP3 files -- even over 3G.

Taint,
Is this one song at a time or can you do a playlist/albums?  Does it play through Safari or the iPod built into the phone?
