Hi!
Do u think it would be possible to "convert" ip adresses into hostnames in the log file?
I know it consumes bandwidth but it would be nice to know who are using the site (for exaple u can see country code, etc).

I think you can already, with the ip2name option, if i remember correctly.
It would be nice indeed to have a whois for the ip, but indeed it would consume much time and doesn't work that easy.
But, if you have given certain users access, than you have their ip to convert.
In case you give public access, then sniffing on ip and backtracing could be a privacy violation and users who use proxies are more or less untraceble anyway. You are allowed to log, but should respect the privacy of your visitors.

this is not as easy as it could seem ;)
because writing on the log should be delayed until the request is fulfilled or refused
anyway, not so hard, BUT.... what about a standard log format (like apache) to be compatible with all those log parsing utilities?
please, don't just reply "make both" :roll:
