Hi everybody. I have this kind of problem.
I found my External IP 72.123.123.123 Port 80. But when I go to http://72.123.123.123/
I'm going to my router where it asks me the password. After entering, I'll be in router settings.
So I can't go to my Http File Server. In Application and Gaming everything OK
Http File Server | 80~80 | [v]TCP | [v]UPD | 192.168.1.100 | [v]
I don't know what to do. Can somebody help me please?
-
did u try to add the port to the end of your ip. Also make sure you have your external one right the 192.xxx.x.xxx
-
did u try to add the port to the end of your ip.
Yes, when I typed http://72.123.123.123:80/ it's automaticly change it at http://72.123.123.123/
Also make sure you have your external one right the 192.xxx.x.xxx
What do you mean? 192.xxx.x.xxx it is my Local port, I think I dont need nothing to change
-
if u using a router to access the router u would need to use an ip like 192.168.2.1 some like thatin hfs it will show u what ip it using should be like 192.168.2.101 last number will change u must enable that on router
-
To access to my router I can use ethter one 192.168.1.1 or 72.123.123.123
hfs it will show u what ip it using should be like 192.168.2.101 last number will change u must enable that on router
Yep I did that I alredy told ypu that
In Application and Gaming everything OK
Http File Server | 80~80 | [v]TCP | [v]UPD | 192.168.1.100 | [v]

Seems to me nothing is going wrong here..
If you browse to http://72.123.123.123/ YOU will have acccess to the router, because you are accessing that address locally.
If someone else connects to that address, they simply connect to your HFS and NOT your router.
But if you want to browse your own fileserver, you could simply use either your local addres (127.0.0.1) or your network address (192.168.2.101, for example).
Hope it helps
-
Really? You think so. ???
That's weard. When I used one of the first versions of HFS, I wasn't abble to acess to my router throw my external IP. It was completely close! I was afraid that I lost all acess to my router, but then I figure out that I have access throw my default gateway 192.168.1.1
Right now I have acess throw my local and external. :o Ok, I'll try it, maybe it will work from other computer. Later I will tell about results, and if it woun't work, then we'll try to figure out something else.
-
Unfortunately it doesn't work for the others. :'(
Do somebody have any HFS from 1 version? I want to try.
Last version didn't work for me :-[
-
Sounds like hfs isnt running or you have changed your port.. make sure hfs runs on port 80 and is actually running
-
Yes, ofcourse HFS is running and the port is 80! ;D
Any other suggestions? Somebody have any older versions of HFS?
-
ya change it to 81 when i had mine on 80 i couldnt get it to work so i put on 81 works perfect now for a year now almost
-
Still it doesn't work
I would like to try older version.
Can somebody help me to find one?
I think the program was changed.
-
I vould like to use the earliest version. Something from v1 but unfortunately the earliest version you have is v2 so I would like to try v2.0
Thanks for help.
-
;D Thanks for v1.6 I'll try it leter
Can you please also upload v2.0?
Thanks
-
All right, I gues It's not problem with pragram
It's my router. Unfortunatly I can't make it work :(
Any way Thanks for help.
-
Oh my GOD, Go to your router and see if it set to alow remote access, If so then change the port that the router give remote access from. Then you will be able to leave HFS to port 80
-
What exactly should I look for? I have the Linksys rauter and I couldn't find anything about remote access.

If you are having problems configuring your router for portforwarding, go here -> http://portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/routerindex.htm
Select your router from the list then select Http File Server-HFS and follow the instructions.
-
I know how to do this. I've done it before and it was working.
But now I have different model of the same router and it doesn't work.
So, what about remote access?
-
When you do the HFS Self-Test, what does it tell you?
As for remote access that another poster mentioned, I think he is referring to a wireless feature supported by some routers (gateway), which I don't think has anything to do with your problem.
-
All right, finally I made it work! :o
The problem was that the link http://12.123.123.123/ DIDN'T work.
But the link http://12.123.123.123:81/ WORKING!!!
So the problem is that you should always write the port in your adress.
In previous versions I didn't do that, and so I didn't know that.
Any way, thanks everybody!

The Only Time that you don't have to include the port in your address is when you use port 80. If you use any other port, you have to include it in your address. That has been mentioned many times in the forum and is probably mentioned in the help & wiki also.
-
Allright, I get it now. I didn't mentioned my port in previous version because I used port 80
Here, my port 80 didn't work, but when I changed it to port 81, I didn't use it in my link ;D
Wow, so complicated and also so simpe. After all, I am happy to use HTTP File Server again.
-
people use that option without understanding what it is
i will put a warning on it
-
My ISP blocks port 80... I had to use port 90. It worked for me..
-
Are you sure that your firewall is open for port 80? check-it. Also it's a good idea to change the port number of the routers configuration page, for example to 126. So you can use por 80 from intranet as also from outside. Only to remember that afer chanchinge the routers configuration port, you have to access it as: http://192.1681.1:126/

Try the Self-Test feature of HFS.
If it succeeds, then everything is probably good. Try connecting to your server from outside the LAN, i.e. with a friend's help or at school/work.
If self-test fails, then check your firewall exceptions and router port forwarding.
-
got it running but seems to top out at 50kb and i can go as fast as 1.9MB/s virfied by my old iis server
any ideas?
-
1. try using version 2.3 (on the "beta" forum)
2. report results you get at www.speedtest.net
-
(http://www.speedtest.net/result/409986335.png) (http://www.speedtest.net)
-
wow :)
what about (1) ?
-
yah about 1MB/s to about 1.9MB/s on good days so it confuses me a little bit
-
no, what about point #1 of my post :)
-
would i haft to rebuild all the accounts and file paths?
-
In addition, the start as a windows service for HFS does not seem to work. I checked the box. I have power outages from time to time and it would be nice not to get my server 03 box back up. Might any way. Should the normal install work with 03? If not I am a willing tester.
-

no
In addition, the start as a windows service for HFS does not seem to work. I checked the box.
what box? hfs doesn't have such feature itself. i guess you are using another software to get it.
-
*shrug* was just a option on install. running the beta atm. like the search. not shure if the d/l speed will go up or not. i will get back 2 u on that.
-
that option on install was not about being a service, but to be on the shelll context menu (the one you get right clicking on a file)
-
any reason build 224 wont show some of my larger folders?
-
no.
if you think it's the 224, try reverting to the last build that worked correctly for you, and see if the problem vanishes.
-
hallo!
i have a little problem
i use a winxp pc as a "router"... it has a modem and lan cards, so many pc can use the only internet connection that i have using lan.
the problem is that if i give the external address to someone, he can't connect to hfs, so if i want to use hfs i have to use it from the pc directly connected to internet
what can i do?
-
did you install a "router" program ?
if not, you are using routing feature of Windows.
As stated elsewhere, you must configure port forwarding of your router, being it Windows or a physical box.

-
i want to acees on server using a fre zilla ftp clinet can i? is that possible
-
Welcome HonGCheN ! :)
It's impossible for now.
But it's much easier, just a browser is sufficient for log in to the server... HFS is an HTTP server.
FTP protocol is in to-do list.
-
ok thanks.
I try but no succesful.
Are possible to conecting domain with this ? ;D I asked maybe so much sori
-
what domain are you talking?
domain as google.com ?
-
rofl
i can clearly see the 2015 potentionale
:-*
