Tar archive paths only works for windows

When downloading a tar archive from HFS, the paths inside the archive are 'Some dir\\Some subdir\\Some.file', which becomes the file name (no dir structure) on Linux for instance.

yours is a strange case, i double checked.
i download a tar file generated by HFS, and path delimiter is "/".
indeed, i clearly see the instruction replacing "\" with "/" at tar creation, so no wonder.

could please provide a tar file so i can have a look at it?

ah, i'm sorry, i guess this is a problem of 2.2
i tested 2.3 beta, that's working as i said.
i will probably include this fix in next 2.2 release, but being it not critical, this may happen in months.
if you need this feature you should consider using the beta. it has been tested for long.
